Most people understand the importance of a morning ritual, but the truth is your morning starts the night before - the way you end your day will determine the way you start the next. The older I get, the more I value my sleep and I've learnt that it's not something I want to leave to chance so I've developed an evening ritual that works to give me a night of undisturbed slumber.
When I start to wind my evening down I love to light a beautifully scented candle, as the aroma fills the room and automatically makes me feel relaxed and content. Dimming the lights and relying on the soft glow of a candle helps to take the strain off my eyes and helps my mind adjust to the sleep ahead.
I'm often told I have soft skin, so I like to use a hand cream before bed - both to treat my skin to a bit of luxury, but also because your hands are close to you when you sleep so it's another opportunity to smell something delicious as you drift off. My absolute favourite is the L'Occitane Cherry Blossom Hand Cream which has a delicate floral fragrance and leaves my hands feeling soft and moisturised.
After I've removed my makeup and cleansed my skin, I like to use a deeply nourishing moisturiser that can work on my skin over night. My favourite at the moment is the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Night Cream which makes my skin feel amazing and ensures I wake up with glowing, hydrated skin.
Last but not least, is the This Work's Deep Sleep Pillow Spray* which is something I've grown very attached to in the last couple of months. It's a calming spray designed to help induce a deep, restful sleep and is perfect to use before or after a hectic day when you know you need a good night sleep.
What is your evening ritual?
