After the season of indulgence in December, and a rather bleak January, February is all about balance - from getting more sleep, becoming more active and treating yourself to some well-deserved pampering. The end of January is always like overcoming a particularly hard obstacle and the transition into February brings with it the promise of Spring, and brighter days.
I think it's fair to say that the concept of 'wellbeing' means something different to everyone. John Lewis recently sent me a wonderful package full of different products to help me achieve some wellbeing in my life and to assist me with my New Year goals.
Rest & Relaxation
To me, one of the most important areas to start when it comes to wellbeing is being rested and relaxed. If you're stressed out you won't sleep well, and if you don't sleep well then your day is already off to a bad start - as you don't have the energy to prepare yourself a healthy meal or work out. To begin my wellbeing journey from where I think it's most important, John Lewis sent me some gorgeous products to help me feel calm.
This Work's Deep Sleep Pillow Spray* is a winning product that I've tried before and am a huge fan of. Whilst I don't struggle sleeping too much, spraying it's musky, lavender scent on my pillow before sleep helps relax me and send me off into a peaceful slumber, waking up feeling refreshed. To aid sleep itself, I was sent two 800 Thread Count Egyptian Cotton pillow cases* which are so incredibly soft and feel wonderfully luxurious and delicate on my skin.
Before I get into bed, I like to spend at least an hour getting myself into the right frame of mind. As a beauty blogger, I know the importance of taking my makeup off properly and was delighted to the receive the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser* which is an amazing product to eradicate any traces of makeup from my skin, and ensure my lovely new pillow cases remain unharmed by any stray mascara! As a candle fiend, I was also over the moon to receive the Liz Earle Eucalyptus & Rosemary candle* which smells so fresh and calming. I've never tried a candle from Liz Earle before so was glad to have the opportunity as it's such great quality and really fills the room with heavenly scent.
Sometimes well being is all about a good frame of mind, and I'm all about a positive quote or mantra to put a good spin on my day. The below Nick Cranston print* was such a lovely surprise in my package and both the words, and bright yellow design help to make my day automatically feel sunnier.

The other side of well being comes from being healthy and active, and this is an area I've really been trying to work on in 2016. Exercise and healthy eating have a huge influence in effecting how you feel both inside and out. John Lewis were incredibly generous, sending me a collection of fitness goodies to really help my fitness journey get off to a flying start. I was send a Moov Fitness Activity Tracker* which tracks your daily physical activity, reminding you to get active and interpreting your movements. It's a great piece of wearable technology and something I've been really excited to wear the last few weeks as tracking my progress and results helps to keep me motivated.
I was also sent a Nike Bag* and Reebok Resistance Tube*, although those were both at work from my last workout so unfortunately couldn't get photographed. To keep me refreshed and hydrated whilst I'm exercising, I was sent a Nathan Fire & Ice Water Bottle*. What I love about this, is that it has reflective fabric which offers 360-degree visibility helping to provide some added safety if exercising outside at night.
Last but not least, comes healthy eating. I'm always trying to add more fruit and vegetables to my diet, and one of my favourite ways to do this is with a spiralizer. I first bought a spiralizer about two years ago (actually before the phase first kicked off) and was amazed by how delicious courgette pasta was. When John Lewis sent me this Spiral Cutter* I was over the moon as it's the perfect size to take with me to work to create fresh and healthy lunches and keep me on the straight and narrow.
As you can see, John Lewis were incredibly generous and I am so thankful to them for asking me to be a part of this project. Well being is a real focus for me in 2016 as I think it's important to recognise that we only have one chance at life, and whilst it's important to enjoy it, and not restrict ourselves - treating ourselves right is important and essential for a healthy, happy body and mind.
What do you do to maintain wellbeing in your life?
I also love the deep sleep mist and that candle smells gorgeous, I can't wait to start burning mine :)
