Over the last few years, the beauty world has been inundated by products featuring 'buzz' ingredients from dragons blood to bee venom - seemingly the more unusual the contents, the more hype it generates. 

With that being said, as a beauty blogger I like to try a range of skincare which means I've used some unusual products in my time. One brand that centres around unusual ingredients is Beaute Mediterranea - a Spanish laboratory-led skincare brand that are new to the UK market. I tried two products from the brand, both whose central ingredient is focused around snail secretion. 

Snail Eye Contour Cream* - £35.50
This is a gel-cream that combines certified organic extracts like aloe vera, marigold and snail secretion with shea butter, grapeseed oil and olive oil. It contains a soft focus agent which helps give an optical blurring effect to fine lines around the eyes. It's a fast absorbing cream that leaves the skin around the eyes feeling like velvet, moisturised and nourished. It's recommended to be used twice daily, but applying an eye cream is one step too many for me when I'm tired in the morning - so I tend to only apply this at night. Whilst I'm thankful not to have any wrinkles under my eyes at the moment, it will inevitably happen to me at some point and I like the ideas of using this cream as a preventative measure. In addition, the cream works well for me as a primer, as I've noticed the concealer under my eyes has lasted longer throughout the day. 

Snail Cream* - £34.00
Applying the Snail Eye Contour Cream under my eyes was something I was able to manage quite easily but the thought of putting snail secretion all over my face was a little more daunting for me, however I'm happy to say that this Snail Cream moisturiser has no hints of it's slimy main ingredient, either in smell or texture. This is a regenerative cream that blends snail slime extract with collagen, elastin and other micronutrients to help moisturise, soothe and shrink skin blemishes. This is a really light moisturiser that absorbs quickly and leaves my skin glowing. It's got a plumping effect that really works well over night and helps me to wake up with refreshed, soft skin.
